Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is the difference between Karate and Tae Kwon Do?

Karate (meaning empty hand) is a Japanese martial art that utilizes 50% hand techniques and 50% kicking techniques. Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art that places more emphasis on kicking techniques and is considered an aerobatic sport martial art..

2. What style of Karate do you teach?

We teach a traditional Japanese Karate. The parent style is Chito Ryu.

3. How long will it take to master Karate?

A student will acquire essential skills after only a few classes. It takes many years to master Karate but important lessons are learned every step of the way.

4. How long will it take to get my Black Belt?

It takes 3 plus years for an adult to attain Black Belt level, and longer for children. You cannot attain your full Black Belt until you are a minimum of 16 years old, although younger students may become Junior Black Belts at an earlier age.

5. Will my child be more prone to fighting if they join your school?

A popular myth is that karate is violent and promote aggressiveness. To the contrary, karate subdues the overly aggressive, hyperactive child and draws out the more passive, introverted child. This also pertains to adults.

6. I feel as though I am too old to start Karate.

You can start training at any age. We have entire families training with us, and everyone works at their own level. We never push anyone past their limit.
